Its national motto, "Pura Vida" (pure life), truly captures the spirit of its people and their laid-back, optimistic outlook. Costa Rica is often called a “living Eden” because of its extraordinary animal diversity. Even though it makes up just 0.03% of the Earth's surface, it holds nearly 5% of the world’s known species—a mind-blowing concentration.
